Compulsory personal insurance against accidents in transport is performed on the terms, approved by the decree of Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine from 14th August 1996 ¹ 959 with changes and supplements, in case if death, temporal or constant working incapacity of a driver and / or passengers of a motor vehicle occurs during a road traffic accident.
The following parties are considered as insured:
passengers from the moment when it is announced the boarding to any sea or river craft, train, bus or other motor vehicle up to the moment when the journey is finished;
drivers only during the period of journey servicing.
The insurance does not concern the following passengers:
in sea and inland water transport in pleasure lines;
in inland water transport of local traffic and ferries;
in motor and electrical transport of local routes.
The amount of Sum insured for each insured makes up 3000 of tax-free allowances from citizens’ incomes, i.e. 51000 UAH.
Insurance tariff depends on the period of insurance, quantity of insured parties and is determined in the amount of up to 1% of Sum insured for each insured.
Insurer pays out Sum insured:
In case of loss or death of any insured as a result of any accident in transport, to the family of the lost party or its heir in the amount of 100% from Sum insured;
In case if insured has been injured as a result of any accident in transport and it was determined as disablement of:
Ist group – 90% of Sum insured;
IInd group – 75% of Sum insured;
IIIrd group – 50% of Sum insured.
In case of temporal loss of working capacity for each 24 hours – 0,2% of Sum insured is paid but not more than 50% of Sum insured.
In case of insured’s death or determination of his/her disablement after temporal loss of working capacity and receiving of insurance indemnity, it is paid out to a victim or its heir the difference between maximal Sum insured, anticipated in case of death or determination of disablement, and already received indemnity.
